Bites # 143- Narendra or Alexis

 To my right, the biggest-democracy-in-the-world: India. To my left, the cradle-of-Western-democracy: Greece. The two countries have come up to voting time, with diametrically opposing results.

On the side of the Asian giant, it's the Hindu Mussolini, Narendra Modi, who has won an overwhelming success, crushing the Congress party of the Gandhi dynasty, and turning the BJP into the subcontinents most famous brand. BJP stands for Bharatiya Janata Party, the People's Party of India, and the name alone is a campaign in itself. Bharatiya is the adjective of Bharat, an old Sanskrit word which officially designates "India" in Hindi. The word "India" was coined by the ancient Greeks, and transmitted to Latin, then to English and French. Janata means "people" in Sanskrit and Hindi.

The BJP has long been the most zealous defender of India as "Hindu Rashtra", Hindu nation, besieged from outside by its "natural enemies" - Pakistan, China, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka - and undermined from within by Muslims and other non-Hindus- Christians, animists, Jews. The great "national" cause of the BJP is Kashmir, which plays the same role in India as the Western Sahara does in Morrocco, or the Falkland Islands in Argentina. Although it is mainly populated by Muslims, it belongs to India, end of, says the BJP.
 

Over the years, the BJP, born out of the most rabid Hindu fascist networks, has gradually transformed itself into a respectable, fashionable protagonist, just like the Italian, French and, more generally, European neo-fascists, which, since the little groups of thugs that they were in the 70s and 80s, have become "democratic parties of government" at the end of the last century. To answer charges of Hindu supremacism, the BJP claims that it has among its leaders many Muslims, and even a Jew! So, what are we complaining about?
 

Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat when the 2002 pogroms erupted, which resulted in ​​at least 2,000 Muslim deaths. Not only has he never been held accountable for his responsibility and complicity in the pogroms, but he has won the esteem of the great Indian capitalists, who finally chose him to do the work that the Gandhi dynasty was getting worse and worse at. The task that the big bosses of India ask from the national political power is simple: to jump the obstacles- legal, regulatory - to predation of territory and resources, and to eliminate all forms of resistance- popular, peasant, worker, tribal, civil, non-violent or military - against this disaster capitalism, by articulating official repressive forces and paramilitaries.

On the side of the European dwarf, it's the leftist Kennedy Tsipras and his party Syriza (acronym of Synaspismós Rhizospastikís Aristerás, Coalition of the Radical Left) which topped the municipal elections in Athens, which bodes well for an excellent score in the European elections next Sunday. Tsipras is sure to sit in the European Parliament, and why not - we have the right to dream - to take the place of the infamous Barroso as President of the European Commission, the unelected government of the European Onion, sorry, I mean Union. In any case, the Italians of the list L'Altra Europa con Tsipras (The Other Europe with Tspiras) are campaigning for it.
 

You can make a striking parallel between India and Greece: in the first instance, that a former head of a fascist band became respectable Prime Minister of a kolossal country; in the second, that a former head of a leftist splinter group made his way to become Great Helmsman of that bizarre gizmo, at once gigantic (economically speaking), and dwarfish (politically). In one case as in the other, the key to power are the guarantees given to those who hold the knife by the handle, and not the voice of small anonymous voters. And there, as here, those who hold the handle are the same: you know, the famous invisible hand of the market, in other words Big Money.
 

Since even before his first electoral victory (June 2012: 26.9%), Tsipras began to add more than a little bit of water to his Retsina: it went from "Greece must refuse to pay the odious debt" to "we must renegotiate the debt "and started to give SYRIZA a bit of a feel of deja vu, in the order of "we are the new PASOK" (social democrats).One can only hope he does not end up like Barroso, who, remember, was in his misspent youth the great leader of nothing less than the Movement for the Reconstruction of the proletarian party, the MRPP (which survives under the name Communist Party of the Portuguese Workers), whose idols were Marx, Engels, Lenin, Stalin and Mao. May the beautiful Alexis defy the adage "leftist at 20, communist at 35, socialist at 45, liberal at 60, neo-conservative at 70."

N°143- Narendra ou Alexis

À ma droite, la plus-grande-démocratie-du-monde : l'Inde. À ma gauche, le berceau-de-la-démocratie-occidentale : la Grèce. Les 2 pays viennent de voter, avec des résultats diamétralement opposés.

Du côté du géant asiatique, c'est le Mussolini hindou, Narendra Modi, qui a remporté un succès foudroyant, écrasant le parti du Congrès de la dynastie Gandhi, et faisant du BJP la marque la plus célèbre du sous-continent. BJP est l'acronyme de Bharatiya Janata Party, Parti du Peuple de l'Inde, et ce nom est à lui seul tout un programme. Bharatiya est l'adjectif de Bharat, vieux mot sanscrit qui désigne officiellement l'Inde en hindi. Le mot "Inde" a été forgé par les Grecs anciens, et s'est transmis au latin, puis à l'anglais et au français. Janata signifie peuple en sanscrit et en hindi.

Le BJP a longtemps été le plus zélé défenseur de l'Inde comme " Hindu Rashtra", nation hindoue, assiégée de l'extérieur par ses "ennemis naturels" – le Pakistan, la Chine, le Bangla Desh et le Sri Lanka – et minée de l'intérieur par les Musulmans et autres non-hindouistes –chrétiens, animistes, juifs. La grande cause "nationale" du BJP est le Cachemire, qui joue le même rôle en Inde que les Sahara occidental au Maroc et les Malouines en Argentine. Bien qu'il soit peuplé principalement de Musulmans, il appartient à l'Inde, point barre, dixit le BJP.
Au fil des années, le BJP, issu des réseaux fascistes hindous les plus enragés, s'est progressivement transformé en protagoniste respectable, fashionable, à l'image des néofascistes italiens, français et, plus généralement, européens, qui, de groupuscules de cogneurs qu'ils étaient dans les années 70 et 80, sont devenus des "partis démocratiques de gouvernement" à la fin du siècle dernier. Pour répondre aux accusations de suprématisme hindou, le BJP invoque le fait qu'il a parmi ses dirigeants plusieurs Musulmans et même un Juif ! Alors, de quoi se plaint-on ? 

Narendra Modi était le ministre en chef de l'État du Gujarat quand y éclatèrent en 2002 de pogroms qui firent au moins 2000 morts chez les Musulmans. Non seulement, il n'a jamais eu à répondre de sa responsabilité et complicité dans ces pogroms, mais il a ainsi gagné l'estime des grands capitalistes indiens, qui l'ont finalement choisi pour faire le travail que la dynastie Gandhi faisait de plus en plus mal. Le travail que les grands patrons indiens demandent au pouvoir politique national est simple : faire sauter les obstacles –légaux, juridiques, réglementaires - à la prédation du territoire et de ses richesses et éliminer toute forme de résistance –populaire, paysanne, ouvrière, tribale, civile, non-violente ou armée - à ce capitalisme du désastre, en articulant les forces officielles de répression et les milices paramilitaires.

Du côté du nain européen, c'est le Kennedy d'extrême-gauche Alexis Tsipras et son parti Syriza (acronyme de Synaspismós Rhizospastikís Aristerás, Coalition de la Gauche Radicale) qui arrivent en tête des élections municipales à Athènes, ce qui laisse augurer d'un excellent score aux élections européennes de dimanche prochain. Tsipras est donc assuré de siéger au Parlement européen et, pourquoi pas – on a le droit de rêver – de prendre la place de l'infâme Barroso comme président de la Commission européenne, ce gouvernement non-élu de l'Oignon, pardon, de l'Union européenne. En tout cas, les Italiens de la liste L'Altra Europa (L'Autre Europe) con Tspiras font campagne pour cela.

On peut faire un parallèle saisissant entre l'Inde et la Grèce: là-bas, voilà un ancien chef de bande fasciste devenu Premier ministre respectable d'un pays kolossal, ici, voilà un ancien chef de groupuscule gauchiste faisant son chemin pour devenir Grand Timonier d'un drôle de bidule, à la fois géant (économique), et nain-caniche (politique). Dans un cas comme dans l'autre, la clé du pouvoir, ce sont des garanties données à ceux qui tiennent le couteau par le manche, et non pas les voix des petits électeurs anonymes. Et là-bas comme ici, ceux qui tiennent le manche sont les mêmes: vous savez bien, les fameuses mains invisibles du marché, ceux qu'autrefois on appelait le Grand Capital, mais ça ne se fait plus d'utiliser ce genre de gros mots.

Dès avant même sa première victoire électorale (juin 2012: 26,9%), Tsipras avait commencé à mettre pas mal d'eau dans son retsina : il était passé de "la Grèce doit refuser de payer sa dette odieuse" à "il faut renégocier sur la dette" et avait commencé à donner à Syriza un petit air de déjà vu, genre "nous sommes le nouveau PASOK" (sociaux-démocrates). On ne peut qu'espérer qu'il ne finira pas comme Barroso, qui, rappelons-le, était dans sa folle jeunesse grand leader de rien moins que le Mouvement pour la reconstruction du parti du prolétariat, le MRPP (qui survit sous le nom de Parti communiste des travailleurs portugais), dont les idoles étaient Marx, Engels, Lénine, Staline et Mao. Puisse le bel Alexis faire mentir l'adage selon lequel "gauchiste à 20 ans, communiste à 35 ans, socialiste à 45 ans, libéral à 60 ans, néoconservateur à 70 ans".
